Our Story

In 2015, Swift Cider was born in a sublet corner of a wild mushroom distribution warehouse in Portland, Oregon. Founded with limited funds and a massive passion for fermentation, Aidan and Jeremy set out to share craft cider with the world.

Named after Portland’s favorite bird, the company honors diversity by making ciders for the whole flock. Swift has grown from a garage-sized operation to an award-winning craft cidery with the love and support of the local community. We pay it back with incredible flavor and artful fermentation.

The story of Swift is about dedication to the craft of cider making, being scrappy, and never giving up. Over the years, we’ve built our own equipment, pioneered whole fruit cider making, saved heirloom apples, won awards, and supported a growing family of non-profits, artists, musicians, and even the little birds we’re named after! We’ve also stayed late, pinched pennies, worked unpaid, pivoted, rebranded, and wondered if it would all work out. Only true passion lasts this long.

People see Swift and think we’re big, but we’re really not. Even today, we only have a team of five turning out over seventy small batches of cider per year in more than thirty flavors. That’s a lot of heavy lifting for a small crew.

We hustle for the love of it: the cider, the industry, and the wonderful people who enjoy our hard work. As we prosper, we are building a community that finds creative solutions to flavor and life.

There are so many ciders to try and we’ve only just begun. Here’s to writing the next chapter in the story, following the next migration, and discovering a world of possibilities through your senses.
